My View
What kind of social media do you use the most? We live in a generation that I think is the most effected by social media. Even though social media help us to connect with people all around the world, it makes us being less social in a real life. How many of us has written a family member or a friend that was in the same building but we were too lazy to speak? How many of us had told our friends to not meet up that you are just going to facetime each other? Sometimes we do not even realize, how social media could actually be a threat for us.
Children using social media these days is very popular. Almost every single child at school has their phones from first grade. Most of them are using smartphones from that young age, but we can still find some children using only phones without internet. A lot of children have a Facebook account since they are little, because they see older kids using it, so they want to be cool too. Scott Steinberg, the professional speaker and author of a book Parenting High-Tech Kids, said that children should be using Facebook as late as possible and that the youngest age of using it should be 13 years old. (Paul Kari, 2018) Children can meet inappropriate situations on Facebook and it is possible that they could meet with cyberbullying If parents do not pay attention to what their children do on social media.
A lot of parents don’t even know what their children are doing on social media. Cyberbullying is one of the most common things that can happen to any one of us. There is a research from middle school in Midwestern US, done my Justin W. Patchin and Sameer Hinduja in 2015, where 34 % of the students reported, that they have been the victims of cyberbullying for example for mean comments on social media or rumors that were spread about them even when it was not true. (Patchin Justin W., 2015) Almost every single one of us has said at least once that we would like to have something as someone from what we see on social media. Instagram is in my opinion one of the most common apps where we all live in full of lies. Many people tend to look happy on a photo but the reality looks completely different. From a different point of view of others, the concrete person would get mean comments and this would be called cyberbullying and for some teenagers, it could lead to committing a suicide.
Children, especially adolescents that are growing up, should never keep their sadness to themselves. Parents sometimes won’t even recognize how are their kids feeling or doing. These days we have a lot of apps that could provide parents a control over what their children do on social media. This would not only decrease number of cyberbullying but also keep children and adolescents safe.
Even though we live in a life where social media is ruling our world, we should try to take a control of it and make our real life in a society a priority. Maybe sharing things of what we do on certain time on social media could be fun, but enjoying it is more valuable and enjoyable.

As I focused on similar topic, I completely agree with your opinion. Technology and media around us is the most powerful tool and children are the group, which can be easily influenced. I would say that parents should talk to them more and also spend more time with them. What I consider as very important fact in your article is that real life in a society is priority.
