We follow other people's lives just through instagram. Some people live by Instagram. This app makes us feel like we are living in a different world and it makes us feel that we actually know that person, but we have never actually meet him/her. Doing this blog made me visit a lot of websites, where I found some very interesting informations about my topic. You can read about why television makes a big impact on children’s growth, what can children actually learn on TV, the violence being a big issue for children to watch, the nutrition that children get from watching TV, benefits of the internet, general risks, misinformation and adverse effects on values. At the end of one website you can see the recommendations. In one article they are writing about teens and how they feel about themselves due to social media. You can find the results of a study of how teenagers feel from social media. On a third website you can see the results of the surveys that they did and for example you can find out about why Facebook is no longer dominant online platform among teens or how teen had mixed their views on social media’s effects on people their age. What the Experts Say II

How television affects children? A lot of children in this generation has been using devices like tablet, phones and televisions from their youngest age, when they were still a baby. Elena Pearl Ben-Joseph had interviewed The American Academy of Pediatrics and they said that for example if children watch TV a lot, they will most likely be overweight. Or If children are playing or watching something in common with violence, they will most likely show aggressive behavior. AAP recommended the guidelines for screen time for children from babies to 18 years old teens. They also said that the video games that has a violence in it, practically tells the children to kill the enemy to reach the success. If a child is growing up with this manner and not seeing a difference between right and wrong, this could lead to the confusion. (AAP, 2016) When children see commercials on TV, especially with their idols in the ads, they will “must have it”. In this case, AAP said that the parents should expl

How using social media affects teenagers? Rachel Ehmke did a survey and asked 2 experts, Dr. Steiner-Adair and Dr. Donna Wick about his topic. As we know, children and especially adolescents are able to spend all of their free time on social media. As Dr. Steiner-Adair said, she does not wonder why are children missing out on social skills, because they cannot see through social media the body image and facial expressions of a person they are talking to. (Steiner-Adar, 2018) She also thinks that making friends is one of the most important things growing up and that friendships requires a lot of risk taking. She said: ““Part of healthy self-esteem is knowing how to say what you think and feel even when you’re in disagreement with other people or it feels emotionally risky,” Cyberbullying is the big issue on social media as we all know and Dr. Donna Wick says, that children are now able to be so nasty to others that we can’t even imagine. Dr. Wick also said: “Adolescence and the ear

My View

What kind of social media do you use the most? We live in a generation that I think is the most effected by social media. Even though social media help us to connect with people all around the world, it makes us being less social in a real life. How many of us has written a family member or a friend that was in the same building but we were too lazy to speak? How many of us had told our friends to not meet up that you are just going to facetime each other? Sometimes we do not even realize, how social media could actually be a threat for us.  Children using social media these days is very popular. Almost every single child at school has their phones from first grade. Most of them are using smartphones from that young age, but we can still find some children using only phones without internet. A lot of children have a Facebook account since they are little, because they see older kids using it, so they want to be cool too. Scott Steinberg, the professional speaker and author of a bo

What a lot of teenagers do on social media is following their idols. Being an idol, or we can say influencer is one of the most popular things on social media. How many of us had said that we want to look like someone or be like someone due to a photo or a video? In Czech Republic, we have many influencers that are known around the world. Some people admire for example youtubers for what they have become and what they accomplished but some people may hate them for just because they think that they don’t deserve to be famous for recording videos. Starting a career on Youtube is one of the most common way on how people think they will get “famous” for what they do these days. Everyone can record videos and we can say, how crazier the video is, more views it is going to get. It is sometimes crazy that people are sometimes admired for crazy things that they do and it doesn’t even have to have a good influence. We have an event that is one of the most known in Czech Republic and that i

Cyberbullying is the biggest issue on media this time. Many people do not even realize how important this issue is. I think that most of us have seen cyberbullying on social media. What cyberbullying actually is? Cyberbullying is the use of cell phones, instant messaging, e-mail, chat rooms or social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to harass, threaten or intimidate someone. (Margaret Rouse, 2015) The discussions that are happening on social media about who is pretty and who is not, if this girl is fat or not, even if some of us find that normal, this is called cyberbullying. I am sure that almost every single one of us has experienced cyberbullying. I’m sure you read a lot of articles about children, teenagers or adolescents that committed suicide due cyberbullying. Sometimes people don’t realize, how stupid words could heart a person that much that it could enforce a bullied person to death.  The event that was created by Susan Wind, who is a college professor and s
